Is your school part of the transgender cult?

“Over the past decade, the transgender movement has gone from seeking representation and access to health care to imposing its own supposed truths on American society. Like the idea that gender is fully mutable. That people born male but identifying as women can safely and fairly play in women’s sports. That it’s dangerous to tell parents when their children are changing their gender at school. That it’s even more dangerous to deny life-altering medical care to children confused about their gender.”

This excerpt from Carine Hajjar’s recent Boston Globe article, “We Should Treat the Transgender Movement as if It Were a Religious Faith,” offers a compelling perspective.

While gender ideology functions like a religion in certain ways, it is not a religion. It mandates instruction in a demonstrably false belief system, contradicts reality, and requires everyone else to participate in the lie. This has the characteristics of a cult.

Independent schools have been fully engaged in pushing this cult-like belief system for decades. Some schools even have language in their enrollment contracts that states the school will hide social transition from parents:

Milton Academy is an example of an elite K-12 school that expresses fealty to the gender cult. They recently observed the Day of Silence.

Milton’s motto is “Dare to be true.” If they were living their mission, that would include pursuing the truth about gender ideology through:

  • Educating students about the detransitioning movement, including Chloe Cole and the growing number of young adults who are detransitioning — who regret the sex changes that doctors and nurses told them to undergo when they were kids. The young girls and boys who were lied to — who were abused — by the medical system they were told to trust when they were most impressionable, most vulnerable.

  • Recognizing events such as Detrans Awareness Day, which has been observed on March 12th since 2021. This day honors the experiences of detransitioners and raises awareness about the harmful effects of gender ideology and “gender medicine.”

  • Teaching about the new research, which shows that “Trans surgeries increase risk of mental health conditions, suicidal ideations.”

In contrast, Milton is so committed to gender ideology that it plans to host the Trans Excellence Expo on April 27. Workshop presenters include trans and non-binary professionals, healthcare experts, government officials, scholars and researchers, and community advocates.

While K-12 schools like Milton have been hyper-focused on teaching empathy, they have failed to teach students to be curious about those with differing perspectives. Despite the incessant focus on DEI, Milton has not exposed students to diverse viewpoints, especially when it comes to gender ideology.

Meanwhile, in the UK, “Britain's highest court ruled on Wednesday that only biological and not trans women meet the definition of a woman under equality laws.” Given this change, coupled with the recent Executive Orders and the fact that 70% of the country opposes teaching gender ideology to children, Milton and other schools should start preparing students for a world that doesn't look like its school.
